Reflective

In life reflecting on yourself takes time and commitment. This is why many people have issues improving, because they struggle to find the source of their problems in order to even attempt to solve them. In a nutshell, being reflective means that you’re able to grow. You review an issue and reflect upon it by trying to resolve the issue. Being reflective requires open mindedness, because you have to be able to analyze things in perspectives other than yours.

A great in school example comes almost daily. After finishing a test, or your homework, you can check your overall score and reflect on that. Usually you’ll be all to find an imperfection, or wrong answer. It seems easy to reflect on this, but it is important that you’re reflecting efficiently. You should take the time out of your day, sit down, and retrieve your tools in order perfect the next test. Benefits of being reflective are improvements. If you received a proficient score on a test, you can spend some time to right your wrongs. Then by the time of the next test, you should know better studying habits, and have an overall more fluid time connecting the two units.

One notable reflection that I had was at an internship that I had. Over the summer I worked at Cessna Citation, as a shadow for a few airline mechanics. I was so eager to start the internship; it would be my first time working somewhere so big, and I’d be working with airplanes. My first week working there, I quickly realized that this internship was going to be nothing like how I imagined. I learned that I wouldn’t be able to what the normal mechanics did, because I did not have the required licenses. Instead, I became the underpaid janitor. I spent hours upon hours cleaning dirt, dust, and oil off of floors and walls. Although it took a while, I reflected upon what I’d need to do in order to enjoy my time a little more. I brought my headphones, and altered my attitude. Sometimes all that’s needed is a changed mindset. Although I was working full time as a janitor at minimum wage, I learned to appreciate my atmosphere. The sun was beautiful, I started asking questions about the airplanes, and I soaked in the warm summer air.
